Located at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel that sits along the magnificent Chao Phraya river, this is truly an experience, especially at night when the colored lamps glow on the end of their Venetian -style poles, the band starts some light jazz and then you'll find the irresistable fragrance of warm breads, herbs, and spices that come from the open kitchen. This is an award-winning restaurant with dramatic design as it is three stories high with massive windows overlooking the hotel's swimming pool and the Chao Phraya River.
As the billing may have changed to Mediterranean, the menu is still predominantly influenced by Italian cuisine by Italian chef Paolo Vitaletti, but either way the selections on the menu are all exceptional and equally enticing and the only problem is limiting your choices.
For appetizers, it's hard to choose just one. The Chiang Mai crayfish and baby spinach salad with oven-dried tomatoes and burrata cheese or Crab Cakes with Herb Aioli and Avocado Salsa are both great starters and if those don't seem to wet your appetite then try the Dry Aged D.O.C. Parma ham or Pan-Fried Goose Liver on Toasted Brioche with Caramelized Dried Figs and Balsamic Vinegar Reduction. Oysters are freshly shucked and served with a sauce made with vodka and Tabasco.
