Baan Klung Jinda

Located at 158 Yaowarat, at the intersection of Thung Kha Road, Baan Klung Jinda sits across from the Phuket Merlin Hotel. Beautifully situated, at first glance the restaurant appears to be more like a rich oil tycoons mansion in Dallas, Texas or that of a very influential, and most-likely very powerful, person of Siam, in long times past. The interior is indescribable and can only be truly identified with photos that show the magnificence of this establishment. Decorated in rich silks and imported fabrics that complement the custom-wood frame chairs, comfortable setees, and elegant table settings with finely-starched linens, the elegant atmosphere is the perfect location for accommoding large parties or weddings.

With so many restaurants trying to get a piece of the proverbial "pie" and changing their menu to suit tourists and locals alike, this restaurant has not changed its style of traditional authentic Siamese cuisine created by the recipes of yesteryear. The art of selecting, blending and mixing fresh herbs and exotic Asian spices was perfected hundreds of years ago, and as was typically done in the times of Siam, the cuisine is immaculately presented with full attention to detail that combines modern and traditional preparation and presentation.

The menu offers special Thai appetisers, delectable Thai curries, a never-ending variety of fresh seafood dishes, along with salads and fresh tropical delights all tastfully presented in generous portions. As was done centuries ago, when Thai dining of yesteryear found wine to be predominantly absent from their meals, there are only about 7 house wines to select from. Don't despair as the flavors of this cuisine enjoy a perfect marriage with beer, as well as, fresh fruit or herbal drinks. The unfortunate thing is that with such a small selection of wine, patrons are still charged a corkage fee of 300 baht. Waitstaff are friendly and quick on their feet.
