Flavors by Chef Arkom Phuket

Baanthai Beach Resort is off the north-bound Beach Road in Patong and the restaurant sits at the northern side of the hotel lobby. Spectacular food has been created by Chef Arkom Ployiam over many years. Set in an elegant new location, chef Arkom and his lovely wife Cathy assure customers receive a memorable dining experience mixing the best of French cuisine with Thai flavors. One may choose to describe the method of balancing the infusion of flavors either Asian Pacific or Fusion, either way, the culinary voyage is a delightful journey.

Each dish of the menu is exciting and a wonderful blend of flavors. The home-made Foie Gras served with roasted cashew nuts and port wine dressing at 490 baht is a great way to start your meal while an equally tempting dish is the Chiang Mai Avocado with blue crab meat served with red capsicum dressing. Since my dining partner isn't really fan of red meat, he was delighted there were numerous choices of fish and seafood. Tartar of Red Tuna with spices and mixed Thai herbs was my friends choice and was delicious. However, when grilled, the Red Tuna wrapped with sesame on a saffron sauce is a sure winner. Other popular choices on the menu are Magret de Canard with tamarind fresh ginger Grand Marnier sauce, and Pan-fried Yellow Garoupa with a red curry enhanced with lemon leaves. For those like myself that have to have some beef once in a while will be in heaven at the first taste of the succulent Beef Tenderloin, accompanied by three sauces.

Wine is well chosen and the price range will certainly suit most patrons. For those that aren't really wine drinkers but can't pass up a little vinow with a nice French meal
