You can arrive at Ici conveniently by either driving or taking the BTS or subway (in both cases getting off at Asoke). Starting at Robinson department store at the mouth of the soi, the restaurant is only 100 metres down Sukhumvit Soi 19 and on your left. Thankfully, there is adequate parking space.

The elevator opens to a boutique-style restaurant with wooden tables and chairs with paintings and wood paneling on the walls. Outdoor dining is set on a wooden deck amongst tropical foliage. Outdoor garden dining alfresco is equally appealing as the indoor dining room with a tropical garden that features numerous varieties of plants and flowers.

After we were seated, the restaurant's complimentary starter arrived - a variety of bread with four dips that included liver paste, mushroom, aioli garlic mayonnaise and tomato salsa. Being my second visit in less than three months I looked forward to this visit. An excellent appetiser, if you love foie gras, order it pan-seared with port wine reduction flavored raspberry sauce. Three pieces of seared goose liver arrived on a bed of rocket salad with a delicious pungent sauce. My partner for lunch chose the fresh clear tomato soup with Thai barley. Served hot, this clear broth with barley and finely diced tomato was pleasant.

My first visit here was for dinner when I enjoyed Som tam spring roll fills fresh rolls with papaya salad plus broiled shrimp as an appetizer with a delicious Arugula salad with blackened tuna, a sensational plate of cubes of seared fish on rocket, pine nuts, cashews and a vinegar dressing with a main course of Tender pork stroganoff with fresh linguine wonderfully stews meat in a piquant mushroom sauce infused with a smoky taste.

Today, our first main course was lemongrass crusted rack of lamb, served with a portion of fried and seasoned fingerling potatoes and steamed buttered vegetables. Three decent-sized racks of lamb were coated and seasoned with lemongrass crusting and salt before being grilled. The dish was flavorful, with very juicy pieces of meat, and no need for the traditional mint jelly. Hainanese chicken rice, very reasonably priced, seemed to be one of the most ordered dishes during my lunchtime visit. It’s described on the menu as "simply the best recipe in town. A plateful of chunky chicken meat accompanied by a large portion of rice and a big bowl of soup was served with three sauces, which is typical of upscale chicken rice. Ici has several fish and seafood dishes on offer. Steamed salmon and white snapper net on spinach mousse and tomato beurre blanc is named for the way it weaves pink strips of salmon with white strips of snapper on a tasty spinach mousse. It is one of the creations the restaurant is more proud of.

Desserts offer more than 10 selections of European classics like ice cream and sorbet. I chose Ici's signature braised stuffed lotus root with black sticky rice, young coconut syrup and ice cream. It offers thick slices of braised lotus root with black sticky rice stuffing came bathed in the not-too-sweet coconut syrup, with vanilla ice cream. Superb!.
