We arrived at "a garden" and found the former residence situated amongst a lush greenery of large trees and exotic plants. There is a wood-tiled patio where many guests prefer to dine as the tall trees provide a canopy for al fresco dining.
Entering the restaurant is a fresh surprise to the senses. The beautifully deccorated interior of white motif and overall design in a contemporary style lends to a relaxing and comfortable feeling. The upper level has different designs decorating the walls to represent different European countries along with flower paintings that offer a warmth to the restaurant. The center of the restaurant offers a wine cellar with almost 40 fine wines, particularly from Italy, France, South Africa, New Zealand and Chile. The main level is enhanced with a subtle scalloped cloth ceiling. One side of the restaurant has a glass panel, with a cascading waterfall, that looks out to a lovely garden. The owner, Ms Ayupat Jirayus, or Pat, explained that one of her goals when opening this restaurant was to project a warm feeling to her guests that made them feel very much at home. Ms Pat spent 6 years in Europe and is a graduate of the world-renowned Cordon Bleu culinary school. After her return to Thailand she worked at the Dusit Thani Hotel as a teacher of culinary arts while searching long and hard until the ideal spot for her new restaurant was discovered.
The garden area was tempting, however, we chose to dine inside, looking out the window with the cascading waterfall …it is so pleasantly hypnotic. We started our meal with a glass of house wine while my date and I looked over the menu. From a varied selection of about 8 appetizers, my date and I shared the "Salmon Carpaccio & Arugula". It was thinly sliced and served with arugula and tomatoes tapenade. While there are at least 7 or 8 fresh soups, we chose to each have a salad; her choice was the "Soft Shell Crab Salad" served deep-fried with a salad boquet, fresh melon balls, and a light citrus dressing. Beautifully presented, the dish was a hit with both of us. Especially at a very reasonable 250 baht. I chose the "Tuna Steak Salad" which was equally delicious. The grilled tuna is accompanied by potatoes, French beans, roasted tomatoes, spring salad & malt vinaigrette. There are at least 7 types of pasta sauce prepared with your choice of spaghetti, penne or fettucini. We each selected from the 20 or so main courses. She selected the "Baked Salmon With Cajun Spice" with a generous portion of mango relish and rocket salad. I'm normally not a fish eater but tasting this salmon was close-your-eyes delicious with seared cajun spice on top with a perfect mango relish. I chose the "Imported Grilled Fillet of Beef". Deliciously prepared, this medium rare 250 gm piece of Australian Fillet was excellent. Prepared with a white wine sauce, this melt-in-your-mouth cut of beef was served with olivette potatoes, and garden vegetables.
They offer a dozen desserts and we chose to share the "Hot Chocolate Soft Cake". As expected, it was served beautifully. The chocolate sauce oozed from within and was served with a scoop of ice cream.
