Established in 1995, Benkay is a Classic Japanese restaurant with a twist of local influence. Very Zen with its minimalist approaches in decor it has an open-plan with a view of the Nikko waterfall. Japanese music plays in the background, providing a relaxing dining experience.
Large pictures on the menu show selections that are on offer. Sushi is a hi-point here, as sushi and sashimi are served along with other interesting and rare specialties that the restaurant prides itself on. Live lobster shouldn't be missed, if you can afford it. Although the menu includes a fair share of Japanese food, it manages to distinguish itself from the rest by having a little Malaysian touch. A favorite dish is the steamed seabass with shime mushroom while one of the more unusual dishes is uminosachi salad, bite-sized sashimi with tuna, salmon, salmon roe, squid, prawn, octopus and scallops on a bed of fresh vegetables. Dessert also includes creamy green-tea ice cream, or you may want to try the caramel ice cream and a doughnut. |
