Situated adjacent to the BTS station at Surasak, the restaurant sits in a beautifully architectually renovated building that once was a leading department store and a Japanese Military headquarters during WW2. The interior's beautiful decor exudes an extremely warm charm along with elegant table settings while Thai cultural dancers in traditional dress entertain guests.

It is difficult to offer traditional Thai or Royal Thai cuisine to patrons, which include westerners and others, without adding or changing some aspects of the food to please their palate and also spending numerous hours of preparation, therefore, restaurants often call it innovative or adding a twist while serving their food with an updated presentation. The bare facts are that many restaurants often refer to their food as traditional Thai cuisine, even if it is anything but traditional. Such is the case here with the takrai steak, a piece of beef tenderloin topped with lemongrass served with sweet potato and basil puree. The dish is excellent, however, traditional it's not.

The menu offers numerous classic dishes, including Thai curries and of course the standards, such as, som o salad and tom yam kung soup. A delicious standout dish is the Black Chicken, green curry of black chicken with aubergine and spices in fresh coconut milk served with a roti. Many interesting Northern or Isan-style dishes are offered, like the marinated salmon in a northern Larb style. This Thai spicy dish mixed with fresh herbs and chilies is fantastic. Another delicious fish plate is bamboo fish, fresh seabass, grilled in bamboo. Desserts are a treat, each beautifully presented, I recommend the flaming banana balls or mixed Thai fruit with ice cream.
