Located at a beachfront hotel on the southern tip of Kata Beach,
it offers spectacular views from the bar and restaurant. The Boathouse is more than a boutique resort with 33 rooms and three suites.
International acclaim has come because of the menu, excellent service, and world class wine cellar which is regularly presented with the Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator magazine.
The Boathouse has some of the most expansive views of sunset over the Andaman Sea. Every afternoon, guests relax and enjoy a cocktail while watching the day end when the sun descends into the water.
Then it's time for a memorable dinner. In the background, the Boathouse band provides
the perfect accompaniment for a long, satisfying meal.
Established in 1989 and famous for being more like a home than a hotel the restaurant offers many Thai & International dishes with a seafood influence.
There are 4 course menus that are accompanied by pre-selected wines along with an a la carte menu. Appetizers include a seafood gratin asparagus and house specialty rock lobster ravioli in a creamy morel sauce.
There is a classic lobster bisque and sea-bass fillet. My favorite entree is the rack of lamb while the steaks are very tender with peeled baked potato, sour cream and bacon sauce.
A Thai favorite is the Pla Gung, similar to a spicy Thai-style shrimp salad. The desserts are often enough for two. The pineapple tarts are luscious and the cheese selection is excellent.
Dinner for two without wine will ring up about 2000 baht but most dishes are well worth the money spent.
The Boathouse cuisine is described as French recipes using Asian flavors," explains their chef.
"Each year he travels in Europe and studies the cuisine of a different region bringing back an exciting new selection of recipes for customers." |
