Beijing,
the capital of the Peoples
Republic of China serves as the political,
economic, travel, cultural & transportation
center of the nation. In the last few years
great strides have been taken to satisfy
the dynamic growth & increasing demand
for a wide choice of cuisine. Compounded
by the 2008 Olympic games and the
millions of visitors it will bring, Beijing
has been sprucing up every aspect of
dining in the city, including translations
and photos of dishes on restaurant menus
to concerns of sanitation and hygiene.
Customers are now enjoying one of the
largest, and some of the best, choices of
cuisine anywhere in Asia. |

Beijing offers
customers an unlimited variety
of Chinese cuisine. China's capital has had
it's cuisine shaped by the influence of other
areas of the country as well as other nations.
The city supports a vast culinary arena where
almost any delicacy from any part of the
world is readily available. With that, local
cuisine is still the hands down favorite with
the signature dish still being Beijing Roast
Duck.
It is said,
"there are two things that you must
do when visiting Beijing". First, take a walk
on the Great Wall and the other is to enjoy
the roast duck. After walking up the Great
Wall, you're sure to get hungry and there's
no better way to satisfy your appetite than to
enjoy the roasted duck! After trying this dish,
most people agree that there is nothing like
it. The duck is perfectly roasted with a
bronzed crispy skin and tender, delicious
meat. There is probably more than a
hundred restaurants that serve this famous
dish, but perhaps the best known are
Quanjude and Bianyifang. Each of the two
has a different method of preparation, but
each produces a delicious result. Quanjude
roasts their ducks over burning wood while
Bianyifang roasts its ducks using radiant heat
from the oven walls. |
