Shanghai is situated on China's eastern coastline and is one of China's cultural centers and has a long history as a trading port and destination for foreigners entering China.   SHOPPING IN SHANGHAI 

Shanghai has become a shopping paradise for visitors. Nanjing Road East and West, is the country's No.1 Commercial Street, while Huaihai Road offers world-famous brands and the latest fashions to attract customers from all over the world. Xujiahui, a shopping center of clothes, shoes, cosmetics, food, digital products & entertainment centers. There is also People's Square with Dimei Shopping Center offering clothes, bags, headgear and jewelry, Shaanxi Road offers shoes galore while Changle Road has stores selling pregnant women and baby clothes, because the Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Health Hospital is located here. Zhongshan Park's Milan Plaza on Changning Road with   special things here, like decorations for houses, shining earrings, stuffed toys, a variety of clothes and shoes, which are very suitable for young girls. The shopping environment is comfortable with clear windows and empty paths. and Qipu Road or Cheap Road, is known as the most popular place in Shanghai for clothes because of low prices and endless choices.

Duolun Road, a short, quiet street littered with stores selling products passed from old Shanghai and goods with cultural sense. The stores on the street seem deep and dark, with old but precious products filling the rooms. The street itself is like a museum, and walking on it, you can feel the custom and fashion of old Shanghai.

Yuyuan Garden
is the most obvious choice for buying souvenirs.
Yuyuan Garden is famous for wholesale and retail markets around it. These markets sell varieties of Chinese-style products at a relatively low price, (compared with their price in overseas that will be extremely low,) Wholesalers can get the low price more easily, and ordinary customers may need bargain with seller. When entering the Yuyuan Garden, you will see "The Show of Special Skill by Folk Craftsmen," which displays folk techniques. You can buy a paper-cutting of your side figure, or a pencil sketch of your appearance, or buy a doll made by china. Continuing south on Fuyou Road, on the east (left side), is a large market divided into small stores, selling mirrors, Chinese knots, socks, stuffed toys, watches, crystal products, pearl bags and decorations. Even further south along Fuyou Road, you'll find another market  " Shanghai Crystal Street," also on the east or left side of the road.To test or improve your bargaining skills, there's no better place than Shanghai.

SHANGHAI RESTAURANTS

As an International city, Shanghai probably offers more gastronomic adventures of cuisines from around the world than any other city in China. The majority of Chinese restaurants serve food at reasonable prices and even-though Shanghai Cuisine, also known as Ben Bang, is not considered to be one of the Eight Major Chinese cuisines,

Shanghai Noodles

Local Shanghainese food is delicious, featuring vegetable and sea food dishes with stew-in-brown-soy-bean and stir-fry-in-vegetable-oil as the main cooking method. Shanghai cuisine, a special hybrid, presents exotic seafood. Fish and shrimps are considered basic, and if possible, eels, carp and crab will appear as well.

Shanghai is also famous for its sweets, including glutinous rice cakes, steamed bread filled with meat (baozi), dough sticks, French pastries, fruit pies and sweets are often a bit sweeter than most Chinese cuisine and if you'd like a bit of spice, go to one of the city's many Szechuan or Hunan restaurants.
