Getting Around Chinatown

Without the convenience of the BTS Skytrain or underground MRT, the easiest way to reach Chinatown and avoid the traffic is by boat (Chao Phraya River Express).

Get off at the Ratchawong Pier Pier, walking up from Ratchawong Road to Sampeng Lane and Yaowarat Road. Regular buses #1, 7, 8, 37, 49 and 75 will also get you there, but the boat is the easiest.

When you reach Odeon Circle, with it's huge ceremonial Chinese gate, you're at the entrance. The only way to explore Chinatown is on foot.

Another way to get to Chinatown - avoiding some of the traffic - would be to take the underground (MRT) to Hualamphong station, and either a taxi or tuk-tuk from there.
