Inn-Chan Thai Restaurant
at
 "The Rose Garden"

Inn and Chan were the names of the first joined twins known throughout the world as the Siamese twins. They were born in 1811, in Samut Songkram, a province near the restaurant. In 1828, Inn and Chan embarked for the USA to be put on display by Captain Coffin, an American businessman. Because they were the first of their kind, the freak twins became renowned not
only in the USA but also all over the world making Coffin an instant millionaire.

After five years of bondage with Coffin the twins were released and then held their own exhibitions and managed to accumulate great wealth and eventually settled in Virginia. When
the twins were 33 years old, in the year 1843, Inn married Sarah, an American girl and Chan later married her sister Adelaide. Altogether, the twins fathered 22 children.

Inn and Chan adopted the surname Banker and lived in the USA together with their families until 1874 by which time they were aged 63. One of the twins developed pneumonia. Advised that he could only be saved by an operation to separate their bodies, the healthy one adamantly refused and asked that, living together for over 60 years, they be allowed to die together. After a lapse of time, the afflicted twin succumbed and, as a consequence, the healthy one passed away 30 hours later.

Situated on the river that links Samut Songkram to the Rose Garden, our restaurant was inspired by the world's first joined twins. With two alike structures, built in memory of the brothers who made the world aware of Thailand's existence through their fame as the phenomenal Siamese twins, our floating restaurant was named Inn-Chan.

The restaurant sits at The Rose Garden, a lovely resort 32 km outside Bangkok, near Nakom Pathom, one of the oldest cities in Thailand. The town is fairly typical of the country's small provincial capitals and The Rose Garden, in itself, is one of the interesting nuggets that makes visiting the area worthwhile. Like most, when you arrive you will be  pleasantly surprised at the very reasonable prices for such high quality authentic Thai food in such a lovely atmosphere.

This is definitely a unique opportunity and makes for a great day trip for lunch or dinner & drinks. As you enter the resort you'll be overwhelmed by beautiful gardens and landscape that cover much of the 70 rai resort and while dining at Inn-Chan Thai restaurant next to the Ta Chine River you can relax and watch the islands of water hyacinth going by, but if you like, after dining you can arrange to stay the night or even a week and enjoy the fantastic array of features The Rose Garden has to offer.

The resort is world class offering a full-service hotel with 188 rooms and 8 Thai-style houses to accommodate guests. We've included a list of restaurants at the resort.
