Literally meaning to eat (khaana) and to drink (peena), this Northern Indian restaurant uses colourful fabrics, unique coasters and placemats and tasteful paintings in its warm and cosy interior. Wooden floors, floor to ceiling windows add to the ambience. Guests can choose to dine al fresco on the patio or the Bollywood inspired interior.

The menu features a range of Northern Indian dishes with the addition of regional specialities. Diners can choose from the wide selections of soups, appetisers, salads, barbequed meats, breads, vegetables, rice, deserts and yoghurts. There are favorites like Tandoori Chicken, stuffed Naan breads such as Paneer (cottage cheese) stuffed Naan and meat Naans stuffed with minced lamb, beef or chicken and Nasi Briyani. There are also some unusual creations such as the Peshwari Kofta - minced meatballs simmered in thick delicious gravy and Khaana Peena’s special BBQ platter which consists of spicy kebabs, garlic chicken tand garlic chicken tikka which is served with condiments of yogurt and mint.

Recommended items include the Murg Salad (chicken salad) which consists of shredded spiced chicken tossed with vegetables, Kadai Panneer – a spicy cottage cheese delicacy of Northern India which is cooked in a kadai (frying pan) or the Mahiamritsani - authentic fish recipe which is prepared in Amritsani style. In addition, there is the mutton (Gosht) and chicken (Murg) briyani which comes with generous servings of succulent pieces of meat mixed with the rice concoction. Then there is Khaana Peena’s kebab platter, which is a tempting mixture of chicken, lamb and fish kebabs.

For dessert, the Mango Kulfi is highly recommended. This dessert is made from pure milk and Indian mangos. To add variety, a new breakfast menu has been introduced recently and this features traditional breakfasts that include authentic creations often partaken by Northern Indians.
