Seafood

12 Noon - 12 Midnight

The sign out front advertises the food is so fresh "they are still swimming", and indeed, as you go inside there are some large tanks with several varieties of fish and seafood dinners The restaurant is built on a deck over the water on the ocean side of Walking Street. The evening brings gentle sea breezes with tables set in a casual garden setting with servers brightly clad in white aprons, an open kitchen for diners to view chefs as they master their expertise, and a menu large enough to give visitors more than just a taste for Thai seafood.

About 20 appetisers start off the menu, ranging in price from 60 to 180 baht. Some international items include sashimi, deep fried crab legs, Japanese crabmeat rolls, fish cakes, plus the more usual seafood and prawn cocktails and oysters from which we selected. Next is Seafood Combinations, with the individual sizes (and prices) being clearly marked each ranging from 420 (medium) to 750 baht (large).

Based on market price by weight, the king lobsters, rock lobsters, tiger prawns, sea prawns and river prawns can be either fried, baked, steamed, or sauteed. Our choice were the king prawns in garlic and pepper with steamed rice. They were large and succulent …wonderful.

There are a few choices of vegetables or side dishes, such as, stir-fried vegetables in oyster sauce to accompany your meal. Up next on the menu are clams, cockles, mussels and scallops. The medium and large plates range around 130-180 baht. The next section is again market price - crabs (many varieties), snapper and other choices of fish. We chose a grouper with chilli sauce which was well received by my two friends and myself. The fish was definintely fresh with a sauce that permeated the flesh perfectly for a delicious dish.

There is an adequate selection of wine and we found the house white to be perfectly dry and a great match for our meal. We had no room for dessert, but the crepe suzette looked inviting as it was served, prepared and flaming, for the guests at the next table.
