Greeted at the door by friendly waitstaff, one finds the interior of the restaurant much more impressive than the cheap neon sign at the entrance. The restaurant hosts dark teak woodwork, ornaments painted with gold, and flowers throughout while the subdued lighting creates a comfortable atmosphere.
While waiting for our round of drinks, we are introduced to a complimentary bite-sized basket of dough holding an Indian inspired potato curry. The four of us decided to share a couple of appetizers and the first one to arrive was "beef wrapped around sliced pineapple", with "banana flower salad with chicken and shrimp" quick to follow. Both taste very good, the warm salad exuding a crunchy taste due to the added roasted coconut flakes.
Choosing to eat Thai-style, we each ordered a main course, sharing it with our other dining partners. First we selected the "tender salmon fillet with herbs and red curry", next was "marinated magret of duck in a thick sweet & sour tamarind sauce", then we chose "baked rice in pineapple" which unfortunately didn't taste like it was cooked in the pineapple to give it some flavor of the fruit, but rather, more like the fried rice was just placed in the pineapple half. To accompany the meal, we ordered "vegetable green curry", a mild dish, loaded with assorted veggies. The last main course we selected was the "pad kapao", or "chicken with basil leaves", which was probably the table favorite with nice chunks of chicken in a delicious garlic sauce with a nice spicy kick.
Desserts were mediocre in taste, and along with their small portions, were not the main feature of our meal.
