La Scala has an open dining area with cooking activities taking place in the center of this marble and glass arena. A glow of a wood-fired pizza oven shimmers in a far corner of the restaurant with some limited outdoor seating available.
The menu is pure Italian with few exceptions and each quality item has been meticulously created. A nice starter is the yellow-fin tuna and avocado tartare with a sage dressing. Another first-rate appetizer is the rocket and parmigiano reggiano salad with aged balsamic dressing. Fine main courses include; stewed monk fish in tomato, olive and caper sauce with black rice timbale & toasted pine nuts. The flavors of this dish have been perfectly orchestrated to please the palate and it is superb. Other favorites include bucatini & pork cheek, with baby onion, broad bean, fresh tomato and black pepper pecorino and the excellent herb-crusted lamb chops.
Wine has been well selected to complement the cuisine with most varietals (equal amount of red and white) reigning from Italy. Desserts all appear decadent examples of ways to please that sweet tooth. |
