Located on the 4th floor of the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel, this lovely restaurant "LES NYMPHEAS” means water lilies as in those of the great Claude Monet's giant French reproductions on the walls of the restaurant. The elegant dining ambience provides an excellent opportunity to witness architectural creations of giant Monet masterpieces, overlooking the tranquil pool, giving it a touch of a fascinating gallery.
The menu at this lovely french-style restaurant features an eclectic mix of the contemporary and the traditional, plus an open show kitchen offering succulent local seafood and the finest in American grilled steaks.
My date and I arrived early for dinner and were pleased to see the restaurant romantically lit and rather quiet. We each had a glass of the house wine... I mean can you go to a French restaurant and not order at least one glass of wine? We also selected the Saute of Duck Foie Gras with Rhubarb Compote and as we both tasted this wonderful dish the smiles on our faces told the other how much we were enjoying this fantastic appetizer. We also shared the Baked Salmon with Endive Marmalade and Chive Sauce (440 baht) which was one of the four fish and seafood items offered on the menu and all were tempting choices. I ordered us a couple of side dishes to complement our meal, the Grilled Vegetables and an order of Steamed Rice. We also ordered the Ricotta and Walnut Crusted Veal Fillet with warm Artichoke Salad and Dijon Mustard Sauce (450 baht). The Salmon was tender and the Veal Fillet was excellent as well. Of course, the finale was our dessert, Black Currant Souffle' accompanied by Creme Anglais, and yes…it was to die for.
The wine list should satisfy the palate for most wine connoisseurs, as the list is extensive.
Service is friendly and prompt.
Meals are very reasonably priced as two people can dine (less drinks) for as little as 1200 baht.
