Located in the Holiday Inn, Loong Yuen has large traditional paintings, a calming waterfall, and 2 large fish tanks that help ensure a large selection of lobster and fish.
Lunch has a selection of quality dim sum and some noodle dishes, however, dinner offers an extensive menu with shark's fin and seafood being the overall focus. Shark's fin with crab roe is thick and rich with generous pieces of sweet crab roe. The appetizer category has several Chinese delicacies including pig's ear and duck tongue.Main courses include, drunken shrimp flambe, a dish not to be missed, with the shrimp in a perfectly marinated Chinese wine before the waiter lights the flambe. Another excellent choice is the freshlyshelled swimmer crab claws presented in fluffy egg whites. Loong Yuen received a gold with distinction award for their fried rice with shrimp and shrimp paste. There is a substantial list of vegetarian dishes, such as, deep-fried dumplings served with sweet & sour sauce and the marinated carrots and celery.
The wine list is fairly typical with a few impressive names included while the service is fairly attentive and friendly.
Dinner can be gotten for as little as HK$500 if the Shark's fin and some of the more elegant seafood dishes are not on the agenda but you will be missing something if you pass over these dishes because they are good values while each are delicious. |
