The 1930's was the golden age of steakhouses and Manhattan
was the place to be when the who's who crowd patronized such steakhouses,
usually similarly adorned with brown leather upholstery and dark wood decor
while graced with thick heavily starched white tablecloths, and the best prime
cuts of US steaks available along with a very efficient staff to service
patrons. The Manhattan Steakhouse at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao
recreates that age – and even those steaks. Black and white photographs of that
era that depict Manhattan scenes cover the walls. |
