Located on the ground floor of the Shangri-La Hotel, this beautiful buffet style restaurant offers a refreshing and open ambiance with spacious floor to cieling glass windows and walls of large colorful jars each filled with dry spices, pickles or jams. Offering air-condititoned or open-air dining, the 454 seat restaurant offerws a view of the Chao Phraya River and the adjacent swimming pool.

Maybe the best international buffet in all of Bangkok. There is a choice of at least 6 different live food stations with a delectable variety of eastern delicacies and western favorites. There is a full menu of great choices if you prefer to order a la carte which is available 24 hours. At dinner-time the restaurant is transformed into an exquisite extravaganza of foods to feast for the International and Seafood BBQ Buffet, however, I chose to invite my 2 guests to the Sunday Brunch which is served 11:30AM - 2:30PM for 950++ baht. It is quite hard to describe all the food as each station has a feast of quality items. The seafood and sushi stations offer fantastic selections of salmon and shrimp prepared in a host of different cooking menthods while there's also prawns, clams, mussels and crayfish. Then you'll discover a selection of fresh sushi and great tuna sashimi, some of which is obviously imported. I have to say the smoked salmon, or "lox" if you prefer, is the best I have had in Thailand. We traveled to the salads with too many delicious dishes to mention which includes some quality cheeses found at very few places in Thailand because of their high cost. Next up were the soup choices, each exceptional, they should not be missed. Moving further to the "east meets west" counter we each tried a piece of lamb, a piece of steamed mackeral, a slice of ham along with the finest cut of beef crown roast you'll ever eat in this country. . Fresh breads and rolls are offered in the center of the interior dining room. On the terrace are 2 stations offering grilled shrimps, baby lobsters, steaks and lamb chops and a host of custom stir-fry made to your cooking preference. The array of quality food choices seems to never end. After enjoying so much delicious food it was time for the dessert, and as expected, it's an unbelievable experience as well. From fresh fruit and candy apples to chocolate covered strawberries that you dip yourself on a skewer to the tiramisu, real coconut cups filled with cream desserts to fresh ice-cream with toppings that include mini-chocolate kisses, M&M's, fresh raspberries, strawberries, chocolate sauce, coconut cream, and a dozen more ... it is a decadent experience.

We will return next time for the dinner buffet as the upscale atmosphere, fantastic view of the river with a twilight atmosphere makes for a very romantic ambiance whether dining inside or al fresco on the lovely patio by the river.
