Located in Taipa, the central district of macau, the restaurant is on a side street where diners don't normally strool by. This is a place that local diners come to experience some good home-style Portuguese cuisine.
The menu has many traditional favorites but our choices were the "Roasted Lamb with Mustard", which was deliciously marinated and very juicy. Between the crunchy golden-brown crust and the lamb, there is a layer of mustard that results in a delicious sweet taste.
Another dish, is the "Charcoal Grilled Eel". This eel is larger and less sweet when compared to Japanese Unagi and the skin is a bit more crunchy.
Our next course were the "Portugese Style Baked Mussels". Unlike mussels served in a typical seafood restaurant, the mussels were baked with ground anchovies, bread crumbs, and spices. It offered steaming hot mashed potatoes on the bottom of the dish which absorbed all the sweet juices of the delicious mussels.
The last dish I'd like to tell you about is their "Portugese Style Baked Chicken". Not traditional-style baked chicken, it comes more like a pie. When served, the dish arrives with the top surface golden-brown in color, and as far as taste, well ...let's just say this is a selection that shouldn't be missed. |
