Sitting at the corner of Patpong and Silom Road, you'll often find Patty on hand. She is as colorful a personality as the restaurant's interior array of Mexican decorations. The raised floor gives an extra dimension to the downstairs while there is a romantic corner in the back of the room for that perfect intimate moment. A stairway leads to what appears to be the third floor and a nice vantage point to look down at the bar area of the restaurant.
My guest and I were greeted at the door by a hostess in a Mexican style dress and escorted to our table where we could people watch Silom Road. To get into the "South Of The Border" spirit we ordered a Margarita, and the Quesadilla appetizer (cheese covered flour chips served w/salsa). The menu offers most of the typical Mexican favorites and more…my dinner date ordered the Sopas De Pollo (Chicken Avacado Soup), it was creamy and colorful while I ordered the Vegetable Soup which truly had the taste of home-made. For the main course my date selected the Chicken Fajitas which you can choose either beef, chicken, pork or shrimp. Included is flour tortillas that you can pile high with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, fried rice, red beans & salad. I selected the Beef Presidente Enchilada, hot flour tortillas filled with your choice of beef, pork, chicken or shrimp and covered with a ranchero sauce, melted cheese and sour cream. As if that wasn't enough, we shared the Blueberry Chimichanga dessert, a mexican-style egg roll filled with blueberries and served with ice-cream. There are house specialties, such as; Fried Snapper or Salmon prepared with garlic & chili sauce, a selection of 8 Thai dishes, a few varieties of spaghetti and even a T-bone steak in mushroom sauce.
All the traditional cocktail favorites are offered. Unfortunately, there are only a few mediocre wines ...French, Australian, & Argentinan, but what goes better with this type of food than beer? And there are most of the standard choices, including Corona while many seem to order the regular, blue or strawberry Margaritas for starters.
The restaurant is located on Silom Road at the entrance of Patpong. You'll find the prices are a bit more expensive (primarily becasue of the location) than some other Mexican spots around town but it has a nice ambiance and live music. The music is from authentic Mexican but a good attempt by the Thai staff whom are friendly and also helpful in making menu choices. There is, more often than not, some nice Spanish music played as background music. If you can't go without Mexican style food while in Thailand, its not to B-A-D.
