The BTS Skytrain station at Saladaeng (Silom) is only a two minute walk to Convent Road. This area has become very trendy with the young crowd, business people and tourists as popular eateries, such as Bua Thai Restaurant and Pola Pola Cafe with their large windows facing the road allow customers to people watch as they enjoy their meals. Pola Pola Cafe has become an instant hit with its great tasting food and a menu that offers superb Italian selections along with about 13 Thai favorites.

As you enter the restaurant the first thing you'll notice is a very relaxed Cafe atmosphere but don't let this fool you because, except for their low price, the selection of wine, drinks and food is comparable to many upscale restaurants. Large windows face the road on the left while on the right side is a bar and an authentic imported wood burning brick oven. There are 2 TV screens and modern over-head lighting. This was my two companions first visit to Pola Pola and they liked the table having crayons and a large white paper table cloth to write or draw on while waiting for your food. There is also a complimentary sleeve of Grazzini (long thin breadsticks) served with a fresh tangy homemade tomato sauce that is the world's best… they were great with our beer. From the 13 different pizzas, I suggested the signature Pola Pola Pizza; with lots of fresh Mozzarella, homemade sauce, Salmon and Thai Mackarel. We also selected the Phat Thai Goong with fried Noodle & Grilled River Prawn plus we chose the Red Curry with Grilled Duck (only 120 baht), and I ordered the Rack of Lamb, served with a bean sauce. We shared the selections and all were delicious. The menu also offers fish, prawns & seafood and 7 chicken, pork and steak items.

The choice of drinks is unbelievable, with 14 juices & frostys, 6 different beers, a dozen fine red & white wines, champagne and a complete selection of bar drinks.

Across from the Kasetsart University, in Ladyao, is the original Pola Pola Restaurant & Bar which offers customers a pleasant upscale dining experience. The Convent Rd location along with the cafes on Sukhumvit Soi 24 and Soi 55 have convenient BTS stops at each Soi. So try the location nearest you and you will be pleased with the great food and service.
