We took the BTS train to the Ratchatewi Station (one stop from the Siam Station). We got off and walked across the street to the Asian Hotel. Until our visit, I've never been to this restaurant but it was recommended by friends.

The cuisine is Brazilian style, where various kinds of meat and fish are skewered on a metal sword which acts as a rotisserie skewer at the same time. The meats are marinated and slowly grilled over coals of fire in their open kitchen. The complete meal has a "prix fix" price of 500++ baht per person without any drinks. You can eat as much and sit as long as you want. Better still the quality of the food is high and you get your piece of meat or fish piping hot and delivered to your table.

First you go to the soup and salad bar where you pick up your first courses. Then the waiter brings your entre plate, on which, you can pre-select your starch and vegetables. Then he comes to the table with a long sword containing skewered fish. Each person gets a piece of salmon piping hot off the grill. There are condiments which accompany the various meats that will continually be served to you. There is a Thai style sauce that is made with lots of hot ground chili peppers, sliced shallots, fish sauce and tamarind pulp juice. It particularly goes well with the whole leg of lamb that is sliced off the large skewer in front of you, still pink. I love lamb and the four of us went through almost a whole leg of lamb in one sitting. The lamb comes from New Zealand while the fillet of beef offered is unfortunately Thai beef and is not to the standards you may expect, especially when talking about Brazilian beef, but for this price … it is a pretty good value. There is a reasonable selection of wine but we chose to drink beer. It wasn't in the cards to eat dessert after we stuffed ourselves, but should you happen to be on Phayathai Road or near the Asia Hotel, stop by and go up to the second floor.
