Located in downtown KL on Jalan Conlay, this restaurant is a sprawling establishment, stylishly casual in presentation with detailed attention paid to service and quality of food. Rows of aquariums filled with bounties from the sea flank an entire side of the restaurant as you enter.
The menu offers an expansive variety of live seafood. Prices vary in a wide spectrum to suit every budget and the choices are endless….fish, lobsters, prawns, crabs, clams, crayfish are imported live. Staff explain the day’s offerings and make suggestions about cooking methods. Prices, by weight, are inclusive of all cooking charges. The concept here is to shop for your meal and have it prepared any which way you choose.
Seafood Paradise is favoured by a varied clientele: Japanese and Koreans, who like their seafood so fresh they eat it raw. Westerners who have been well-trained by Asian standards appreciate the quality of freshness that makes the difference while locals are finicky about their seafood and willing to pay for the best. There's no pork served here.
Silver Pomfret in Assam Sauce was delicious as the fish came off on the fork with a soft and tender consistency. Tamarind sauce was tangy and delightful with its tomato, eggplant and okra. Grilled Green Lobster with garlic butter is a favorite while Tiger Prawns in butter/milk sauce spiced with curry leaves is typically Malaysian, while the sauce is fantastic with accompanying deep-fried Chinese Buns. A good selection of wines and spirits, including sake and shojyu complements the food. |
