As my dinner date and I were seated we knew we were in for a lovely treat. Arriving unannaounced, as normal customers, DininginThailand allowed me to review this restaurant at their expense.
We pondered the wine list, with its many selections not often found in Bangkok, as it was extensive with more than 40 wines from Sicily, Tuscany, Veneto, Piemonte and some Chilean. I chose the Chianti Classico Riserva '97 Antinori as it was medium bodied, well-balanced with a smooth and terrific finish. Our meal began with my date having the Lobster Cream Soup and the Insalata Caesare for myself. The menu was truly intriguing with so many imaginative dishes. Our first main dish was Phuket Lobster Thermidor which actually was a French creation, that has to be tasted to describe…succulent and moist it was delicious. It was followed by the Rainbow Trout, pan-fried, was served in a mild lemon sauce with almonds, so tender it melts in your mouth. Next was pasta, from about 14 different selections I was told this one was not to be missed, "Spaghetti alla Sorrento", with a sauce of seafood (prawns, squid, clams, mussels, etc). The menu also offers favorites for the meat eater, such as, "Stracetti di Manzo al Rucola", succulent herby slices of beef loins served with rockets and tomato plus "Agnello a Scottadito", grilled rack of lamb from Australia that is marinated well with rosemary & garlic served with polenta and a variety of steaks in different offers of sauce. This was a delightful evening and the food was delicious.
