The restaurant is truly authentic with quality food being offered by its Swiss owner since he first opened back in 1985. The restaurant is part of a nice bistro that also includes some great rooms for a very reasonable price. I have personally stayed their on many occasions as the rooms have all the modern amenities of a fine hotel with room service available from the restaurant.
On this visit to Pattaya, my co-worker and I met two friends at the restaurant that just arrived from Spain. Upon entering the restaurant there is definitely a European feel with soft peach colored walls surrounded by a wood lattice trim. Tables have dual linen covers while fresh flowers and glass votives add a touch of class. Walls are decorated with prints and a couple large murals.
We started our celebration with a beer. We wasted no time ordering from the menu as all were hungry and eager to enjoy a meal. We all ordered "Shrimp Cocktail" from the list of 10 choices which each had a generous amount of large shrimp. The menu offers great main courses and specials including favorites, such as, "Beef Fillet Stroganoff", "Duck Breast with Orange Sauce", "Salmon Fillet in Wine Sauce", and some Fondues plus great selections of fillets and imported steaks from their grill. All of us decided on different courses of meat and each chose to order something different for all the group to taste. A great surprise is that any course you order for 170 baht or more includes a free salad bar and soup of the day. Our menu choices were the "Fillet Steak with Fresh Green Peppercorn Sauce". the Angus "Beef Strip Loin" imported from Australia, a "Combination Mixed Grill" with French Fries, and "Chateaubriand" which is 500 grams and is really for 2 persons, but we were all going to share, so we included it. Each piece of meat was excellent, tender and the sauces were delicious. We chose a Cabernet Sauvignon from Spain to accompany our dinner and actually enjoyed 2 bottles. The wine list includes some reasonably priced Chilean, Australian, and Spanish wines while their is also a complete selection of aperitifs, spirits, cocktails, and soft drinks. There is a list of Thai dishes that include the most popular dishes. Our evening would not be complete without dessert so we each chose "Apple Strudel" with perfectly prepared apples, raisins and spices in a traditional strudel crust surrounded with hot vanilla sauce and a dallop of whipped cream. Could you ask for more? Everything was delicious and quite filling and the prices are more than reasonable.
