On the southern side of Hong Kong Island sits Repulse Bay. With swinging palm trees, this up-scale area is a quintessentilly romantic place to take a stroll that ends at The Verandah. This colonial-style restaurant's grand atmosphere, with fans that spin silently high overhead and champagne-cocktail trolleys that cross the cool, granite tile floor is more than relaxing, it makes you yearn for more.
While still offering their opulet International cuisine The Verandah has become famous for it's recent twist of unusual Asian flavors being added to European food. Examples of some of the menu favorites include dishes, such as, "warm Maine lobster on an avocado and peppered mango tian enhanced by Oscietra caviar and creme fraiche", "grilled goose liver on braised du puylentils with pancetta emulsion", "grilled scallops with cauliflower and black truffle emulsion on homemade herb angel hair pasta", and a delicious "pan-roasted striped seabass with garlic and bacon roti jus". Meatlovers will really enjoy the "slow-cooked lamb shank with pine nut gremolata on creamy polenta and sauteed broccolini", as well as, the "tournedos rossini, beef tenderloin with pan-fried goose liver topped wth black truffle sauce". A great finish are the signature hot souffles, with flavors ranging from Grand Marnier to chocolate chip, they are light and fluffy.
There is a comprehensive selection of wines from most regions while a good range of wine is offered by the glass with the drink trolley filled with liqueurs and Champagne.
Service is both attentive and friendly with the staff being eager to see that you enjoy your dining experience.
