A 5 minute walk from MTR Central Station. If you want to impress local business people, take them to Yung Kee. Whilst not Hong Kong’s flashiest restaurant, it is one of its most famous and most revered.
Yung Kee started as a modest food stall more than 50 years ago. It's well known among people in Guangdong & Hong Kong and attracts tourists worldwide, especially for its famed roasted goose, along with roasted pork, roasted duck, wonton soup, chicken marinated in soy sauce, plus numerous upscale items, such as 8 selections each of abalone and shark's fin. A popular Cantonese dish amongst locals is the roast goose with rice. It's a simpler dish, the goose arrives roasted with a rich dark brown skin that is crispy and tender with delicious meat inside. Another favorite is the deep-fried prawns with mini crab roe as well as the braised Garoupa tail with shark's fin which are just a couple choices of the 37 seafood selections on the menu. There is also 4 types of Bird's Nest, 12 roasted dishes, 15 different soups, at least 9 choices each of beef and pork, and 18 selections of chicken and duck, along with hot pot, bean curd, vegetables and more. There are 4 different set meals that include some great awarding winning dishes.
The range of wine is very limited but is better than most Chinese restaurants with some French and New World wines. |
